A Wake Up Call for Self
Last three weeks, I had been busy preparing and participating Pertukaran Pemuda Antar Negara (PPAN) of West Java selection processes. Apparently, the whole selection processes were not merely about selling one's self to be selected. It slapped me awake about many things.
It taught me that no matter how experienced you are, it is nothing if you do not give impact to your surrounding. It is not about how much you have got, it is about how much that you have given. It is all about humility. That is why being opportunist does not necessarily bring you anywhere if you do not have any integrity and loyalty.
It is more than about skills as well, it is more about perseverance. Our personalities and attitudes matter.
Also, it made me open my eyes wider that Indonesia does have an abundance of potential youth who have a bright vision for the future of Indonesia. Surely, Indonesia has hopes. So that I can not only sit still and turn a blind eye. At least I have to do more to my surrounding and to promise myself to broaden my positive impact time by time.
Most importantly, it has awakened me from the fact that I had been leaving Sundanese culture too far. I had been trying to get to know foreign's cultures when I even barely know about my origin's. Let's go back to hometown, self; West Java. :)
As the result, I was chosen to be the second best applicant for the program I applied, yet it was only one person who had the opportunity to go. So, here I am, as a selected reserve.
Of course, this is not for a grumbling purpose. I am feeling so blessed that I went this far. I really am.
God does know what I need.
It is the time for self-improvement!
Cheers!
