We all will remember this fight one day

Someday, we will remember these days,
When the sound of ambulance sirens prick up our ears every single day,
For I-don't-know-how-many times a day.
It is at close quarters.
Yet, we cannot see how close it is.
"Is it for our neighbor?"
"Is it for people we know?"
We are locked home.
Otherwise, we (might) die.

After weeks,
People are dying of boredom for staying home.
Social media is no longer fun,
It takes a toll on our sanity;
People's blaming each other,
The news on death toll climbing quickly,
The news on the global economy falling apart,
Yet, we are barely able differentiating which news isn't fake.
Confused between staying up-to-date or ignoring things,
As every line we read seemed scary.

While out there,
People are literally dying from a tiny little creature, called virus.
The governments are forced to roll with the punches,
Rushing this pandemic comes to an end.
The medical frontliners sweat blood to save the lives of the infected,
While they themselves realize, it sticks their neck out.

While out there,
Some still struggle to make their ends meet,
Though it means they must risk their health.
For them,
It is either working outside and die from a pandemic,
Or stay home and die from hunger.
Not to mention the chase and hunt by debt collectors.
They never have a choice.
Even it was hard enough before all these happen.

We thought this ordeal only existed in movies.
Every so often, we mumbled,
"Is this the end of the world?"

Right before bed,
We stared blankly at the ceiling,
"Is this just a nightmare?"
And hope everything will go back to normal,
Right after we wake up;
But this is not.

At the very least,
For once, the deeply divided world societies are in unison about one very thing,
This global crisis calls for our solidarity.
Using our own capabilities and capacities,
Fighting the pandemic,
Helping those in need,
Supporting those with less.

Together, joining in the same, exact prayer,
"Hope we all can weather the storm soon."

Hope we all can weather the storm soon.
